With the jack fully lowered, remove the screws on the cover plate to open it. Remove the oil fill plug on the cylinder. Turn the handle counterclockwise to open the release valve, then pump the handle quickly 10-15 times to force trapped air out. Reinstall the fill plug and cover plate.
