Modèle : 010-12843-30

1. Plus deview

The Garmin Speed Sensor 2 is a wireless sensor designed to accurately monitor your speed and distance while cycling. Its magnet-free design ensures easy installation, maintenance, and transfer between multiple bicycles. This sensor transmits data via both ANT+ connectivity and Bluetooth Low Energy technology, allowing it to pair with a wide range of compatible devices, including Garmin Edge cycling computers, Garmin watches, and various training applications.

Once properly set up and calibrated, the Speed Sensor 2 provides consistent and precise speed and distance data, even when a head unit is not actively connected or GPS signals are unavailable.

2. Installation

2.1 Déballage et inspection initiale

Carefully remove the Garmin Speed Sensor 2 from its packaging. Verify that all components, including the sensor unit and the mounting strap, are present and undamaged.

2.2 Installation de la batterie

The Speed Sensor 2 typically comes with a pre-installed CR2032 battery. If the battery needs to be installed or replaced, gently twist the battery cover counter-clockwise to open it. Insert the CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up. Replace the cover and twist clockwise until it is securely closed. The sensor will activate automatically.

2.3 Montage du capteur

The Speed Sensor 2 is designed to attach to the hub of either your bicycle's front or rear wheel. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Select a wheel hub for mounting. Ensure the area is clean and free from obstructions.
  2. Place the sensor on the center of the wheel hub.
  3. Secure the sensor to the hub using the provided rubber mounting strap. Loop the strap around the hub and hook it onto the sensor's attachment points. Ensure the sensor is firmly held in place and does not interfere with any moving parts of the wheel or fork/frame.

Once the wheel size is set, the sensor will provide accurate data even if your paired device is not present during a ride.

3. Fonctionnement du capteur

3.1 Appairage avec des appareils

The Garmin Speed Sensor 2 uses both ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for wireless communication. To pair it with a compatible device:

  1. Ensure the sensor is awake by spinning the wheel a few times.
  2. On your Garmin Edge cycling computer, Garmin watch, or other compatible device/app, navigate to the sensor pairing menu.
  3. Select to add a new speed sensor. The device will search for available sensors.
  4. Once the Garmin Speed Sensor 2 is detected, select it to complete the pairing process.

The sensor will automatically connect to your paired device when it is within range and active.

3.2 Transmission de données

The sensor transmits real-time speed and distance data to your paired device. This data can be viewed on your device's display and recorded for later analysis in platforms like Garmin Connect.

4. Entretien

4.1 Remplacement de la batterie

The Speed Sensor 2 uses a CR2032 coin cell battery. When the battery is low, your paired device may display a low battery warning. To replace the battery:

  1. Remove the sensor from your bicycle wheel hub.
  2. Gently twist the battery cover counter-clockwise to open it.
  3. Retirez l'ancienne pile CR2032.
  4. Insérez une nouvelle pile CR2032 avec le côté positif (+) vers le haut.
  5. Replace the battery cover and twist clockwise until it is securely closed. Ensure the O-ring seal is properly seated to maintain water resistance.

4.2 Nettoyage et stockage

Clean the sensor regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. When not in use for extended periods, store the sensor in a cool, dry place. Removing the battery during long-term storage can help prolong battery life.
