3. Configuration et installation

  1. Préparez le site d'installation : Ensure the electrical box or mounting surface is clean, dry, and free of debris. Turn off power at the main circuit breaker.
  2. Mount the Weatherproof Box: Position the weatherproof box over the existing electrical box or mounting surface. Use the included mounting hardware to securely fasten the box. Ensure the gasket is properly seated between the box and the mounting surface to maintain a watertight seal.
  3. Wire the GFCI Receptacle: Connect the electrical wires to the GFCI receptacle terminals. Refer to the wiring diagram on the GFCI unit itself. Typically, the "LINE" terminals connect to the incoming power from the circuit breaker, and the "LOAD" terminals (if used) connect to downstream receptacles or devices that also require GFCI protection. Ensure proper polarity (hot, neutral, ground).

  6. Restaurer l'alimentation : Mettez le courant au niveau du disjoncteur principal.

4. Mode d'emploi

The integrated GFCI receptacle is designed for user safety. It continuously monitors the electrical current and will trip (shut off power) if it detects a ground fault, preventing electrical shock.

GFCI Self-Test Function:

This GFCI features an automatic self-test function. It periodically performs an internal test to ensure it is functioning correctly. If the GFCI fails the self-test, the indicator light will turn RED, and the unit will trip, indicating it needs replacement.

Manual Test and Reset:

  • Bouton ESSAI : Press the "TEST" button (usually black or red) to manually trip the GFCI. This should cause the power to the receptacle to shut off.
  • Bouton de réinitialisation: After testing or if the GFCI has tripped, press the "RESET" button (usually red or white) to restore power. If the GFCI does not reset, or trips immediately, there may be a ground fault or wiring issue that needs to be addressed.

Self-Closing Lids:

The flip cover features self-closing lids that automatically close when a plug is removed. This ensures continuous weatherproof protection for the receptacle when it is not in use.

5. Entretien

  • Nettoyage régulier : Periodically clean the exterior of the weatherproof box with a damp chiffon. N'utilisez pas de nettoyants abrasifs ou de solvants.
  • Monthly GFCI Test: It is recommended to manually test the GFCI monthly by pressing the "TEST" button and then the "RESET" button. This verifies its proper operation.
  • Inspecter les dommages : Regularly inspect the box and cover for any signs of physical damage, cracks, or wear. Replace the unit if any damage is observed.

6. Dépannage

  • GFCI Will Not Reset:

Cause possible : A ground fault exists in the circuit or connected appliance. The GFCI is faulty. Power is off to the circuit.

Solution: Unplug all appliances from the GFCI and any downstream outlets. Try to reset. If it resets, plug appliances back in one by one to identify the faulty appliance. If it still won't reset, check the circuit breaker. If the breaker is on and no appliances are connected, the GFCI may be faulty and needs replacement. Observe the indicator light: if it's RED, replacement is necessary.

  • No Power to Receptacle:

Cause possible : GFCI is tripped. Circuit breaker is off. Loose wiring connection.

Solution: Press the "RESET" button on the GFCI. Check the circuit breaker in your electrical panel. Ensure all wiring connections are secure (only perform if power is off and you are qualified).
