Caractéristiques principales :

  • Conception compacte pour une installation peu encombrante.
  • Volume de fonctionnement 24 V CCtage.
  • Multiple safety outputs for flexible integration.
  • Diagnostic LEDs for quick status indication.
  • Easy wiring via removable terminal blocks.

4. Installation

4.1 Montage

The RT6 safety relay is designed for DIN rail mounting. Ensure the DIN rail is securely fastened within the control cabinet. Snap the relay onto the DIN rail by hooking the top edge first, then pressing down until it clicks into place.

4.2 Câblage

AVERTISSEMENT: Ensure all power is disconnected before wiring. Incorrect wiring can lead to equipment damage or personal injury.

  1. Refer to the wiring diagram provided on the side of the unit or in the detailed technical documentation for specific terminal connections.
  2. Connect the 24V DC power supply to the designated power input terminals.
  3. Connect safety input devices (e.g., emergency stop buttons, light curtains) to the safety input terminals.
  4. Connect the safety outputs to the controlled devices (e.g., contactors, motor starters).
  5. Assurez-vous que toutes les connexions sont sécurisées et correctement isolées.

4.3 Mise sous tension initiale

After completing all wiring, apply power to the system. Observe the diagnostic LEDs on the front panel. The power LED should illuminate, and other LEDs will indicate the status of the safety inputs and outputs.

5. Fonctionnement

5.1 Fonctionnement de base

The RT6 safety relay operates automatically once correctly configured and powered. When all safety inputs are closed (i.e., no safety function is active), the safety outputs will activate, allowing the controlled machinery to operate. If any safety input opens, the safety outputs will immediately de-energize, bringing the machinery to a safe state.

5.2 Voyants lumineux

The front panel features several LEDs to indicate the relay's status:

  • Voyant d'alimentation : Illuminates when the relay receives power.
  • LED d'entrée : Indicate the status of the safety input channels (e.g., green for active, off for open).
  • Voyant de sortie : Indicates the status of the safety outputs (e.g., green for active, off for de-energized).
  • LED de défaut : Illuminates or flashes to indicate a fault condition within the relay or the safety circuit. Refer to the troubleshooting section for fault codes.

5.3 Reset Procedures

After a safety function has been activated (e.g., an emergency stop button pressed), the safety relay typically requires a manual or automatic reset before the safety outputs can be re-energized. The reset method depends on the relay's configuration:

  • Réinitialisation manuelle : Press the designated reset button on the control panel after the safety circuit is restored.
  • Réinitialisation automatique : The relay automatically resets once the safety circuit is restored. This mode is generally used for specific applications and requires careful risk assessment.

6. Entretien

Regular maintenance ensures the continued reliable operation of the ABB RT6 Safety Relay.

6.1 Calendrier d'inspection

  • Mensuel: Visually inspect the relay for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
  • Annuellement: Perform a functional test of the safety circuit, including the relay, by activating each safety input device (e.g., pressing E-stop, breaking light curtain beam) and verifying that the safety outputs de-energize.

6.2 Nettoyage

PRUDENCE: Débranchez l’alimentation avant le nettoyage.

Clean the exterior of the relay with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the housing. Ensure no dust or debris accumulates around the terminals or ventilation openings.

7. Dépannage

If the RT6 safety relay is not functioning as expected, refer to the following table for common issues and solutions.

ProblèmeCause possibleSolution
Relay not powering on (Power LED off)No 24V DC supply; Incorrect wiring; Blown fuse.Check power supply connections; Verify wiring against diagram; Check and replace fuse if necessary.
Safety outputs not activating (Output LED off)Safety input open; Relay in fault state; Reset required.Check all safety input devices; Clear any fault conditions; Perform a manual reset if configured.
Fault LED illuminated/flashingInternal fault; Wiring error; External device fault.Consult the detailed technical manual for specific fault codes; Verify all wiring; Check connected safety devices.
Unexpected de-energization of outputsSafety input activated; Power interruption.Inspect safety devices for activation; Check power supply stability.

If the problem persists after following these steps, contact ABB technical support.
