3. Installation

  1. Connectez le casque : Locate the U-174/U plug on the headset cable. Insert this plug firmly into the corresponding low impedance jack on your military aircraft's communication panel. Ensure a secure connection to prevent signal loss.
  2. Adjust Headband and Ear Seals:
    • Place the headset on your head so that the earcups fully enclose your ears.
    • Adjust the headband slides on both sides to achieve a comfortable yet snug fit. The double foam headpad should rest gently on the top of your head.
    • Ensure the gel ear seals create a complete seal around your ears to maximize noise reduction and audio clarity.
  3. Positionnez le microphone :
    • Gently bend the flexible microphone boom to position the M-87 dynamic microphone approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3-6 mm) from your lips.
    • Ensure the microphone is centered in front of your mouth for optimal voice pickup and to minimize breathing noise.

4. Mode d'emploi

  1. Marche/Arrêt : The headset does not require external power. It operates passively when connected to the aircraft's communication system.
  2. Contrôle du volume : Use the volume control knob located on the earcup to adjust the listening level. Rotate clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease. The detent setting allows for precise adjustments.
  3. Communication: Speak clearly and directly into the microphone. The M-87 dynamic microphone is designed for effective voice transmission in noisy environments.
  4. Protection auditive : The headset provides a 24 dB Noise Reduction Rating (NRR). Ensure ear seals are properly seated for maximum protection.

5. Entretien

  • Nettoyage:
    • Wipe the exterior surfaces of the earcups and headband with a soft, damp tissu. Évitez d'utiliser des produits chimiques agressifs ou des nettoyants abrasifs.
    • Clean the gel ear seals periodically with a mild soap solution and water. Ensure they are completely dry before re-use.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the headset for any signs of wear or damage, particularly the cable, plugs, microphone boom, and ear seals. Replace worn or damaged components as necessary.
  • Stockage: Store the headset in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid coiling the cable too tightly to prevent damage.

6. Dépannage

  • Pas de son / Volume faible :
    • Ensure the U-174/U plug is fully inserted into the aircraft's communication jack.
    • Check the headset's volume control and adjust it to an audible level.
    • Verify the aircraft's communication system volume settings.
    • Confirm that the aircraft system is low impedance, as this headset is designed specifically for such systems.
  • Microphone ne transmet pas :
    • Ensure the microphone boom is correctly positioned in front of your mouth.
    • Check for any visible damage to the microphone or its wiring.
    • Verify that the aircraft's intercom or radio system is properly configured for transmission.
  • Poor Sound Quality / Excessive Noise:
    • Ensure the gel ear seals are creating a complete seal around your ears. Adjust the headset fit if necessary.
    • Inspect the headset cable and connectors for any damage or loose connections.
    • Confirm that the headset is connected to a low impedance system. Connecting to a high impedance system may result in poor audio.
