4. Instructions de configuration

4.1. Preparing the Filter Media

  • Open the filter head and remove the media baskets.
  • Rinse all filter media (sponges, bio-media, activated carbon) thoroughly under tap water to remove any manufacturing dust.
  • Place the media into the baskets according to your desired filtration setup. The filter includes a finish sponge, standard sponge, Bioceramax 600 bio-media, and Carbomax Plus activated carbon.
  • Ensure the pre-filter sponge is correctly seated in its designated compartment at the top of the filter.

4.2. Connecting Hoses and Inlets/Outlets

  • Attach the hoses to the inlet and outlet connectors on the filter head. The Hypermax 4500 features two inlets and two outlets for enhanced water circulation.
  • Securely connect the other ends of the hoses to the aquarium's inlet screens and outlet nozzles/spray bars.
  • Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks. The advanced double ball valve system helps prevent leaks during maintenance.

4.3. Priming the Filter

  • Once all connections are secure and the filter is positioned below the aquarium, open the water stop valves.
  • Press the priming button on the filter head 2 to 4 times until water begins to flow into the filter and hoses.
  • Ensure the filter chamber is completely filled with water before proceeding.

5. Mode d'emploi

5.1. Mise sous tension

After priming the filter and ensuring all connections are secure, plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The filter will begin operating.

5.2. Adjusting Pump Speed

The Hypermax 4500 features variable pump speed control. Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the filter head to increase or decrease the water flow rate as needed for your aquarium setup.

5.3. Smart and Safe Operation

The filter is equipped with a system to detect impeller issues. If the impeller is clogged or missing, the filter will shut down, emit an audible alert, and the pump speed indicator LEDs will flash. This feature helps prevent motor damage and alerts the user to a problem.

6. Entretien

Regular maintenance is essential for the efficient operation and longevity of your Aquael Hypermax 4500 filter.

6.1. Nettoyage du préfiltre

  • The integrated pre-filter is designed for easy access and cleaning, reducing the frequency of full filter disassembly.
  • To clean the pre-filter, unplug the filter, close the water stop valves, and carefully open the pre-filter compartment.
  • Remove the pre-filter sponge and rinse it thoroughly under aquarium water (not tap water, to preserve beneficial bacteria) until clean.
  • Reinsert the clean pre-filter sponge and close the compartment securely.

6.2. Main Filter Media Cleaning/Replacement

  • Periodically, the main filter media will require cleaning or replacement. The frequency depends on your aquarium's bio-load.
  • Unplug the filter and close the water stop valves. Disconnect the hoses from the filter head using the quick-release mechanism.
  • Carefully transport the filter to a suitable cleaning area. The built-in wheels facilitate movement.
  • Open the filter head and remove the media baskets.
  • Rinse mechanical media (sponges) in old aquarium water. Biological media should be gently rinsed to remove debris without destroying bacterial colonies. Chemical media (activated carbon) should be replaced as per manufacturer recommendations, typically every 2-4 weeks.
  • Reassemble the filter, ensuring all seals are correctly seated, and re-connect the hoses. Prime the filter as described in Section 4.3 before plugging it back in.

7. Dépannage
