1. Introduction
The KOZWAY HW300PRO Digital Coating Thickness Gauge is a precision instrument designed for non-destructive measurement of coating and paint thickness on metal substrates. It utilizes both electromagnetic induction (for ferrous metals) and eddy current effect (for non-ferrous metals) principles, automatically detecting the substrate type. This device is essential for surface treatment quality control in various industries, including manufacturing, metal processing, chemical, and automotive sectors.
This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use, setup, calibration, and maintenance of your HW300PRO gauge to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.

6. Installation
Note: Always use fresh batteries for optimal performance. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
6.2 Mise sous/hors tension
- Pour allumer, appuyez et maintenez le Bouton d'alimentation (usually marked with a circle and a vertical line) until the display illuminates.
- Pour mettre hors tension, maintenez la touche Bouton d'alimentation again until the display turns off, or the device may automatically shut down after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.
7. Mode d'emploi
7.1 Mesure de base
- Ensure the device is powered on and calibrated (see Section 8).
- Place the probe firmly and perpendicularly onto the coated surface you wish to measure.
- The device will automatically detect the substrate type (ferrous or non-ferrous) and display the coating thickness reading on the screen.
- Lift the device from the surface to take another measurement.
Figure 1: The HW300PRO gauge in use, measuring the paint thickness on an automotive surface. The display shows a reading of 0.15 units.
7.2 Unit Selection (UM/MILS)
The HW300PRO supports both micrometers (UM) and mils (mils) units. To switch between units:
- Appuyez sur le "UM/MM/MILS" button to toggle between the available measurement units. The selected unit will be displayed on the screen.
7.3 Mode Selection (F/NF/AUTO)
The device can operate in automatic mode or specific ferrous/non-ferrous modes.
- VOITURE: Automatically detects the substrate type (ferrous or non-ferrous). This is the recommended default mode.
- F: Forces the device to measure only on ferrous substrates (e.g., steel, iron).
- NF: Forces the device to measure only on non-ferrous substrates (e.g., aluminum, copper).
Contrôle du rétroéclairage 7.4
- Appuyez sur le bouton icône d'ampoule to turn the display backlight on or off. This is useful in low-light conditions.

8. Étalonnage
Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your HW300PRO gauge. The device comes with 7 calibration sheets for this purpose.
8.1 Étalonnage du zéro
Zero calibration should be performed on an uncoated, bare metal substrate (ferrous and non-ferrous) that is representative of the material you will be measuring.
- Place the gauge's probe firmly on a clean, uncoated ferrous metal surface.
- Appuyez sur le "ZERO CAL" button. The display should show "0.00" or a similar indication of zero.
- Repeat the process for a clean, uncoated non-ferrous metal surface.
8.2 Multi-Point Calibration (Using Calibration Sheets)
For enhanced accuracy, especially when measuring specific coating thicknesses, use the provided calibration sheets.
- Select a calibration sheet with a known thickness (e.g., 50 UM, 100 UM).
- Place the calibration sheet on a bare metal substrate (matching the type you intend to measure).
- Place the gauge's probe firmly on the calibration sheet.
- Adjust the reading on the gauge to match the known thickness of the calibration sheet using the calibration function (refer to the device's on-screen prompts or specific buttons if available, as this can vary by firmware).
- Repeat for other calibration sheets to cover the desired measurement range.
Always calibrate the device in the environment where measurements will be taken, as temperature can affect readings.
9. Entretien
- Entretien de la sonde : Keep the probe tip clean and free from dirt, dust, or paint residue. A dirty probe can lead to inaccurate readings.
- Stockage: Store the device in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for a long period, remove the batteries.
10. Dépannage
