1. Introduction

The APC Back-UPS BX1400UI is an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) designed to protect your electronic equipment from power outages, surges, and spikes. Featuring Line Interactive Technology and Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), this unit provides reliable battery backup and surge protection for connected devices. It includes six IEC 320 C13 outlets, a USB interface for communication, and data line protection.

2. Informations importantes sur la sécurité

• Connexion directe : Always connect the UPS directly to a wall outlet. Do not use surge protectors, extension cords, or power strips with the UPS input.

Note: The input power cable (for connecting the UPS to the wall outlet) and the USB communication cable are typically non inclus and must be purchased separately if needed.

4. Installation

4.1. Déballage et connexion de la batterie

2. Locate the yellow battery connector on the rear panel of the UPS. This connector is typically disconnected for safe transport.
3. Push the yellow battery connector firmly into its socket until it clicks into place. This activates the UPS battery circuits.

4.2. Connexion à l'alimentation

1. Connect the UPS to a grounded 230V AC wall outlet using an appropriate IEC-320 C14 input power cable (not included).
2. Ensure the connection is direct to the wall outlet. Do not use surge protectors or extension cords.
3. Allow the UPS to charge for at least 10 hours before connecting critical equipment to ensure full battery runtime.

4.3. Raccordement des équipements

The BX1400UI features six IEC 320 C13 outlets for connecting your devices.

5. Mode d'emploi

5.1. Mise sous/hors tension

• Pour allumer : Press and hold the power button on the front panel until you hear a short beep. The UPS will perform a self-test, and the 'On Line' LED will illuminate green.

5.2. Indicateurs LED

The front panel features LED indicators to show the UPS status:

• On Line (Green LED): Indicates the UPS is operating on utility power and providing power to connected equipment.
• On Battery (Yellow LED): Indicates the UPS is operating on battery power during a power outage or brownout. A humming noise is normal during battery operation.
• Replace Battery (Red LED): Indicates the battery needs to be replaced.
• Surcharge (LED rouge) : Indicates that the connected equipment exceeds the UPS's capacity. Disconnect non-essential equipment immediately.

5.3. Vol automatiquetage Règlement (AVR)

7. Utilisation du logiciel

The APC Back-UPS BX1400UI supports USB Human Interface Device (HID) class specifications, allowing it to be recognized by most operating systems without special drivers.

7.1. APC PowerChute Personal Edition (Windows)

For advanced monitoring and management on Windows systems, download the APC PowerChute Personal Edition software from the official APC website. Ce logiciel vous permet de :

Refer to the documentation for `apcupsd` or NUT for configuration details, typically involving specifying `UPSCABLE usb` and `UPSTYPE usb` for `apcupsd`, or using the `usbhid-ups` driver for NUT.

8. Entretien

8.1. Remplacement de la batterie

The APC Back-UPS BX1400UI uses two 12V 7.2Ah sealed lead-acid batteries. The recommended replacement battery pack is APC RBC113.

• During Warranty: If the unit is still under its 2-year warranty, battery replacement must be performed by Schneider Electric IT (SEIT) customer service. User-performed battery replacement during the warranty period will automatically void the warranty.
• After Warranty: After the warranty period, batteries can be replaced by the user. However, due to the presence of high voltage components even when disconnected, it is highly recommended that this operation be performed by specialized personnel. If you choose to replace the batteries yourself, exercise extreme caution.
• Procédure terminéeview (for experienced users only): Disconnect the UPS from all power sources and connected equipment. Disconnect the yellow battery connector. Remove the rear panel screws, then the front panel (which is snap-fitted), and additional screws. Carefully access the battery compartment. Note the orientation and wiring of the existing batteries (taking photos is recommended) to ensure correct installation of the new batteries.

8.2. Réinitialisation du disjoncteur

In case of an overload, the UPS may trip its circuit breaker. To reset, disconnect some equipment from the UPS, then press the circuit breaker button located on the rear panel (refer to Figure 2).
