1. Introduction et informations de sécurité

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your ECHO CS-271T-12 Gas Chain Saw. Read and understand all instructions and safety precautions before operating the chain saw. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death.

2. Configuration et assemblage

2.1 Déballage et inspection

Carefully remove the chain saw and all components from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. If any damage is found, do not operate the unit and contact your dealer.

2.2 Installation de la barre et de la chaîne

1. Assurez-vous que le frein de chaîne est désengagé.
2. Remove the chain cover nuts and chain cover.
3. Placez la chaîne autour du tambour d'embrayage et du guide-chaîne, en veillant à ce que les bords tranchants soient orientés vers l'avant sur le dessus du guide-chaîne.
4. Mount the guide bar onto the studs, aligning the chain tensioner pin with the hole in the guide bar.
5. Remettez le cache-chaîne en place et serrez les écrous à la main.
6. Adjust chain tension using the side access chain tensioner until the chain is snug but can still be pulled freely by hand.
7. Serrez complètement les écrous du couvercle de chaîne.

2.3 Carburant et huile de chaîne

This chain saw requires a specific fuel mixture and chain lubricant.

• Mélange de carburant : Use a 50:1 ratio of high-quality 2-stroke engine oil to unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane). Mix thoroughly in a separate, approved fuel container.
• Huile de chaîne : Use a high-quality bar and chain oil. Do not use waste oil or motor oil, as this can damage the chain and bar.

Fill the fuel tank and chain oil reservoir, ensuring not to overfill. Wipe up any spills immediately.

3. Mode d'emploi

3.1 Démarrage du moteur (démarrage à froid)

1. Placez la tronçonneuse sur une surface plane et stable. Assurez-vous que le frein de chaîne est enclenché.
2. Press the purge bulb several times until fuel is visible in the return line.
3. Déplacez le levier de starter à la position FULL CHOKE.
4. Pull the starter handle firmly and quickly until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls). Do not pull the rope to its full extension.
5. Once the engine fires, move the choke lever to the HALF CHOKE position.
6. Tirez à nouveau sur la poignée du démarreur jusqu'à ce que le moteur démarre et tourne.
7. Once the engine is running, move the choke lever to the RUN position. Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments.
8. Désengagez le frein de chaîne avant de commencer les opérations de coupe.

3.2 Démarrage du moteur (démarrage à chaud)

1. Assurez-vous que le frein de chaîne est engagé.
2. Déplacez le levier de starter en position RUN.
3. Pull the starter handle firmly and quickly until the engine starts.

3.3 Techniques de coupe

Always maintain a firm grip with both hands on the chain saw handles. Stand with your feet apart for balance. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar to prevent kickback.

• L'ébranchage : Remove branches from a fallen tree. Work from the bottom up, supporting the branch if necessary to prevent pinching.
• Tronçonnage : Cut a fallen log into sections. Be aware of tension and compression in the wood to avoid pinching the bar.

4. Entretien

4.1 Vérifications quotidiennes

• Vérifiez la tension de la chaîne.
• Vérifiez le tranchant de la chaîne.
• Vérifiez que la barre de guidage ne présente aucune usure ni aucun dommage.
• Check chain oil flow.
• Nettoyer le filtre à air.

4.2 Affûtage de la chaîne

Une chaîne bien affûtée est essentielle pour une coupe sûre et efficace. Utilisez une chaîne ronde. file of the correct diameter (refer to chain specifications) and a filing guide. File all cutters to the same length and angle.

4.3 Nettoyage du filtre à air

Remove the air filter cover and clean the filter element. Wash foam filters with warm, soapy water, rinse, and allow to dry completely before reinstallation. Replace damaged filters.

4.4 Inspection des bougies d'allumage

Remove the spark plug and inspect for fouling or wear. Clean or replace as necessary. Ensure the correct gap is set.
