Soundcraft EFX8 High-Performance 8-Channel Lexicon Effect Mixer

Introduction

The Soundcraft EFX Series combines all the features of the popular Soundcraft EPM mixer with a built-in 24-bit, digital Lexicon effects processor, expanding the Soundcraft low-cost, multipurpose compact range. The Soundcraft EFX8 mixer uses the same Audio DNA processor featured in many of the Digitech and Lexicon outboard equipment including the highly respected Lexicon MX400 processor. With over 35 years experience, the Lexicon name is synonymous with the best reverb and processing in the business, ensuring the finest quality effects not usually found in a console at this price level. The Effects section fits neatly into the mixers compact framework which is available in 8 or 12 mono input variants, both with 2 stereo channels and an effects send on each channel. There are 32 effects to choose from with a tap tempo function, 3 effects parameter controls and a user effects setting store facility. An effects channel level clip LED and Mute function gives the user even more flexibility. The emphasis with the Soundcraft EFX is very firmly on quality build and audio performance, with an easy to understand control surface in line with the Soundcraft professional range. The Soundcraft EFX8 uses the highly-transparent GB30 Mic amp (designed by Graham Blyth for the company’s 30th anniversary, and also used on the larger LX7ii and GB Series professional consoles). The Soundcraft EFX also offers all the features of the Soundcraft EPM most notably a configurable aux send, XLR and ¼" metal jack connector sockets, RCA phono stereo playback inputs and record outputs, 3-band EQ with a swept mid on the mono inputs, 3-band EQ on the 2 stereo inputs, TRS insert sockets, inserts on all mono inputs, ten-segment LED output metering and a headphone output.

Guide d'installation

Before operating your Soundcraft EFX8 mixer, ensure it is properly set up. Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface or install it into a standard equipment rack using the appropriate rack ears (sold separately or included depending on package). The mixer is designed for flexible placement, including rack mounting.

Connexion électrique

Connect the IEC power cable to the power inlet located on the underside of the mixer. This design helps keep cables tidy and out of the way during operation. Ensure the mixer is connected to a suitable power source as indicated in the specifications.

Connexions audio

The EFX8 features a variety of input and output options:

• Entrées : Use XLR connectors for microphones and ¼" metal jack connectors for line-level instruments or devices. RCA phono inputs are available for stereo playback devices.
• Résultats : Main stereo output is provided via XLR connectors. RCA phono outputs are available for record outputs.
• Insertions: TRS insert sockets are present on all mono input channels for connecting external processing gear (e.g., compressors, gates).

Contrôles des canaux

• Gagner: Adjust the input sensitivity for each channel to achieve a healthy signal level without clipping.
• Égalisation (EQ) : Each mono channel features a 3-band EQ with a swept mid-frequency control, allowing precise tonal shaping. Stereo channels have a fixed 3-band EQ.
• Envois auxiliaires : Control the amount of signal sent from each channel to the auxiliary outputs for monitor mixes or external effects.
• Casserole: Position the channel's signal within the stereo field (left to right).

The integrated Lexicon effects processor offers 32 high-quality effects. Use the Program Select knob to choose an effect. Adjust the effect parameters using the dedicated controls. The Tap Tempo function allows you to synchronize time-based effects (like delay) to the beat. You can also store your preferred user effects settings.

The master section includes controls for the main stereo mix, auxiliary masters, and headphone output. The ten-segment LED meters provide visual feedback on the main output levels, helping to prevent clipping.
