Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your Yuasa YUAM329BS YTX9-BS Maintenance-Free AGM Battery. This battery features advanced lead-calcium technology and Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators, making it non-spillable and eliminating the need for water refilling. It is supplied dry with a separate acid pack for activation by the end-user.

DANGER: Battery acid is corrosive. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection and gloves, when handling the battery and electrolyte. In case of contact, flush affected areas with water immediately and seek medical attention. Keep out of reach of children. Do not short-circuit or overcharge the battery. Strictly observe battery polarity. Keep dry. Avoid water and fire. Keep charging away from fire and flammables. Strictly prohibit maintenance or modification.

Ensure adequate ventilation when activating or charging the battery.

Setup: Battery Activation (Filling with Electrolyte)

Your Yuasa YTX9-BS battery is supplied dry and requires activation by filling it with the provided electrolyte. Follow these steps carefully:

1. Préparer: Place the battery on a horizontal, stable surface. Ensure you are wearing appropriate safety gear (gloves, eye protection).
2. Retirer le sceau : Carefully remove the sealed foil label from the top of the battery.
3. Prepare Electrolyte Pack: Remove the black cap from the electrolyte pack. Keep this cap, as it will be used to seal the battery later. Caution: Do not poke or remove the foil seals from the electrolyte pack (liquid pack).
4. Fill Battery: Align the electrolyte pack with the 6 cells (tubes) of the battery. Upside down the electrolyte pack and gently push it into the 6 cells of the battery. The electrolyte will start to flow into the cells.
5. Monitor Filling: While filling, make sure at least one tube has bubbles from both sides (each side has 3 tubes). It may take 20-25 minutes to fill all the electrolyte pack. Caution: Do not remove the electrolyte pack until it's fully filled. If no bubbles on both sides of tubes, gently tap the pack from the bottom 2 to 3 times.
6. Seal Battery: Once fully filled, gently remove the electrolyte pack from the top. Seal the 6 cells of the battery by pushing the black cap (from Step 3) all the way in. Ensure the cap is sealed flatly on the lid. After capping the battery, do not remove the cap and fill any water or electrolyte anymore.
7. Charge initiale: You will need to charge the battery after all the processes above. Refer to the "Charging" section for details.

Installation

Before installing the new battery, ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and disconnect the negative terminal first from the old battery, followed by the positive terminal. Remove the old battery carefully.

1. Positionnement : Place the new Yuasa YTX9-BS battery securely in the battery compartment of your vehicle.
